Facts and figures

  • Integrated university research
  • Improved environment for service users and staff

Interserve, in partnership with NHS Fife, completed the first Scottish Framework Pilot scheme in July 2009 on time, with zero defects and a gain share for the Board.

The 18-bed Elderly Mentally Infirm Unit based at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, provides 100 per cent single room with en-suite accommodation, communal social space and an enclosed courtyard garden accessible from all parts of the building.

The Unit is designed to a high standard, offering a homely environment, with large bedrooms accommodating the needs of the users, such as lifting, walking and mobility aids whilst retaining their privacy and dignity.

Research undertaken at Stirling University Dementia Unit has been integrated throughout the building design. By maximising lines of sight, using different colours and textures of flooring and doors to differentiate communal spaces, way finding for users is more intuitive and maintains their independence wherever possible.

"Fundamentally projects are as much about people as they are about processes or products...this requires emotional and perceptual intelligence and clear client leadership and commitment to address these changes. Interserve has demonstrated via the successful delivery of this project that they possess these qualities..." Dennis O'Keeffe, Project Director
