Defence Geospatial Intelligence, Feltham
Defence Geospatial Intelligence (DGI) is the MoD’s primary organisation for the provision of geospatial information and imagery.
During the development of the Feltham site and subsequent disposal of land previously used for car parking, the need for a new parking facility arose. The area highlighted was the site previously occupied by the Redman building, demolished under a previous contract.
Interserve provided a new car park with 187 spaces complete with four disabled parking bays, lighting and soft landscaping. Existing underground structures such as the old foundations were incorporated into the design rather than being removed. We added value through well designed external lighting and soft landscaping to give pleasing appearance.
Achievements
- Optimising functionality - with 187-space car park that includes four disabled parking facilities and lighting control system that allows flexibility of lighting up times
- Delivering sustainable development - reduced energy use by installing low-energy, low-pollution lighting and reduced the risk of water course contamination with a sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS)
- Managed capital cost - by re-using existing sub-structure where possible
