Interserve is Infrastructure Support Provider for the Falkland Islands and Ascension Island, supporting the most complex operational RAF Airbase, in extreme climatic conditions, located some 8,000 miles from UK support functions.
This five-year, £17 million per year contract, which has now been extended for a further two years, developed the previous tri-partied WSM delivery model into a single integrated supplier organisation, formed in partnership between Interserve and the Defence Estates Overseas Business Unit.
Interserve delivers the full spectrum of facilities services necessary to support an operational and self-sufficient military base, which also acts as an operational base for civil aircraft. Key to the military support function is the effective maintenance of the bulk fuel storage and aircraft re-fuelling facilities and essential operational maintenance of the Aeronautical Ground Lighting.
Interserve also provides capital works as a single source of support to the MoD and has built a Fuel Bowser Park, Hazardous Waste Compound and new Service Family Accommodation as well as project managed and designed the refurbishment of catering facilities to support up to 300 personnel. Furthermore, a project to upgrade existing water treatment works has extended their use for the next 20 years.
