Pudsey Grangefield School, Leeds

Pudsey Grangefield School is a £22m-new build PFI, which has been procured through Interserve’s response to the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Programme, the ‘Environments for Learning’ Consortium.

The school is a maths and computer college and this specialism has been reflected in the design solution - a central hub of Learning Resource Centres, ICT and learning break out spaces. This was confirmed by a design excellence accolade from the CABE review team.

Interserve’s procurement technique ensured delivery on time, on budget, demonstrating value for money and with high quality design finishes. The team developed an excellent partnership approach with the school and the Council.

Educational-led design

Interserve’s one-team approach started from the earliest stage, helping the development of the school’s educational and ICT strategy leading the design of the building and the furniture and equipment solution.

Whilst the budget was tight, the Consortium achieved the areas required and transformed Pudsey Grangefield, pushing innovation and responding to new and modern ways of working. Teachers and other staff using the building have been fully involved in the design to ensure the new school brings improvements to teaching and learning outcomes.
