The lives of Interserve staff working at the Royal Naval base at the historic Devonport dockyard in Plymouth will be under the spotlight in a new six part TV documentary, which starts tonight.
The series, ‘Devonport: Inside the Royal Navy’, goes behind the scenes to look at what keeps the ships and sailors afloat and ready for action, while they are docked in the city.
Interserve is responsible for the support services for the Navy and features heavily in the series, which focuses on the people, their relationships and unusual challenges they face in day to day running one of the most famous Royal Navy bases in Europe.
Devonport is the largest naval base in Western Europe, home to most of the surface fleet and the navy’s Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. It’s also an important base for training and it supplies, mends and refits all kinds of naval craft.
‘Devonport: Inside the Royal Navy’ airs on Quest (Sky 144, Virgin 172, Freeview 37, YouView 37) from February 19 at 9pm.
