The publication of the i-FM Business Confidence Monitor 2016 offers a chance to look at the market and how it’s performing.
Private and public opportunities
As stated in the Business Confidence Monitor, Interserve has started to see some positive movement in the public sector after a quiet 2015, with some major opportunities starting to come to the fore and a larger number of smaller opportunities. The private sector, meanwhile, continues to look strong.
There is still a drive by many organisations to rationalise their assets and streamline the management of their estates – and while that continues there will be opportunities for providers who can support customers through this complex process.
The importance of workplace experience
Many of our private sector customers are looking at the role that we can play in improving the workplace experience, whether that is facilitating agile working, improving connectivity, or reconfiguring office space in a way that engenders greater productivity. It’s great to see businesses recognising the positive impact that facilities management can have in this regard and indeed the importance of an enhanced service experience. The challenge for our industry is to deliver these improvements in a way that’s cost-effective for the customer, using the principles of ‘LEAN’ working and by embracing innovation wherever possible.
Great people are our priority
Attracting, retaining and developing great people has always been, and will continue to be, a key area of focus for Interserve. We are striving to not only create a place that people want to work, but to be a showcase for facilities management as a rewarding and exciting career pathway. Facilities management will always fundamentally be a people business, so this is crucial to our long-term success as a company and the success of our industry as a whole.
