Interserve wins special events contract with the Metropolitan Police Service

Interserve, the international services, maintenance and building group, has retendered and retained a four-year, £9 million contract with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to provide special events services throughout the MPS London region and home counties. Interserve will directly support operational policing through traffic management and engineering services during public order, ceremonial and major incidence events, planned and unplanned.

Interserve has been delivering special events services to the MPS since 1999. Its team of highly-trained staff work on a 24/365 basis covering a multitude of activities. These include: 

• Assisting in the planning and implementation of activities surrounding events such as Wimbledon tennis, the London Marathon and Remembrance Day.
• Responding to crimes, accidents or disasters by providing and deploying generators, tents and tarpaulins, floodlighting and other equipment.
• Creating witness-appeal boards - the signs used by the police at scenes of crimes to elicit help from the public.

In a separate contract Interserve also provides facilities management services to over 300 sites and more than 800 buildings throughout the MPS’s operational territory within the M25. This includes New Scotland Yard, around 70 police stations, offices, garages and premises for housing and training dogs.
