Interserve and Help For Heroes team up for green motoring challenge

2 November 2010

Citroen Nemo RENEWABLES vehicleOn 6 November, Interserve, the international services, maintenance and building group, will enter its first electric Citroen Nemo van into the Future Car Challenge - a new motoring event specifically for electric, hybrid and low-emission vehicles.

Staged during the 2010 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run weekend, the event will promote and demonstrate new, cleaner energy technology. The challenge is to complete the 60 mile route from Brighton to London with the least energy impact in the time allocated.

Interserve’s fleet of small service vehicles is integral to the effective delivery of support services to clients both at home and overseas. By entering the Future Car Challenge, the company is demonstrating its genuine commitment to reducing emissions within its everyday operations.

Interserve will team up with its charity of the year, Help for Heroes, for the challenge to help raise awareness of the support the charity provides to wounded service personnel.

Participating in the challenge and promoting Help for Heroes awareness during the event also underpins our approach to the wider elements of sustainability as captured in our RENEWABLES framework, through the community engagement as well as the reduced environmental impact association.

Commenting, David Balderson, who will lead the Interserve team, said: “This is a great event and an opportunity to raise awareness of both new, cleaner motoring technology and a fantastic charity like Help for Heroes. I am pleased that Interserve is able to compete in this green motoring challenge with a real operational business vehicle.”
