Interserve successfully retains British Airways Maintenance Cardiff and Glasgow contracts
Interservehas been re-awarded a £10 million British Airways Maintenance contract. The five year contract involves the provision of hard and soft facilities management services at the airline’s aircraft maintenance sites in Cardiff and Glasgow.
Over the last 15 years at Cardiff, and 6 years at Glasgow, Interserve has developed an excellent working relationship with the British Airways Maintenance team. Interserve was re-awarded the contract ahead of four other companies.
The contract incorporates building fabric maintenance, mechanical and electrical services, maintenance of docking and aircraft support systems, ground equipment, cleaning services, landscaping and waste management.
Terry Dolan, Managing Director – Technical Services at Interserve, commented: “Over the last 15 years we have been working closely with British Airways Maintenance to develop a close understanding of their facilities management requirements. We have worked hard to continually improve our service offering and are delighted to have extended our relationship further. ”
The crucial challenge is the critical nature of the environment and timing. Aircraft arrive and depart the maintenance facility in close succession and Interserve conducts maintenance and cleaning service to ensure all preparations are completed under significant time constraints - before the next plane arrives.
Sustainability is also a key element of the contract and an area where Interserve has a great deal of expertise. The on-site team have been working closely with BA Maintenance at Cardiff and Glasgow on a number of proposals to reduce, reuse and recycle. Interserve recently launched a sustainable development guide, called RENEWABLES, which includes practical advice and a checklist for employees and clients to use to enhance sustainability at all stages of a project, from design through construction, maintenance and operation to end of life.
