OFT Announcement
Following its investigation into the construction industry the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) announced fines for 103 companies this morning. One of these is Interserve Project Services Limited.
The investigation, covering the period 2000-2006, focused on two forms of behaviour: compensation payments and cover pricing. Interserve Project Services was held to have been involved in two instances of cover pricing in October and December 2000; it neither gave nor received any compensation payment of any kind.
Interserve co-operated with the OFT throughout the investigation. Its board and the board of Interserve Project Services Limited are committed to running the business ethically, based on a strong set of values, and were neither involved with, nor supported or condoned, any policy or activity relating to any unlawful behaviour.
Since becoming aware of these infringements of the Competition Act Interserve has reinforced its controls still further, implementing and communicating an ongoing compliance programme and training all appropriate members of staff on competition law. Interserve Project Services Limited has also introduced express terms within both its tender enquiry and contract documentation to highlight to its suppliers the need for them to comply with the Competition and Enterprise Acts.
