Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been ‘Highly Commended’ in two categories at the prestigious Environment and Energy Awards 2011.
Interserve was Highly Commended for the NQA Environmental Leadership Award for Cultural Change as a result of its RENEWABLES framework – a business wide, Chief Executive-led, initiative which sets out the guiding principles to address social, environmental and economic aspects of sustainability, helping drive value for clients and the company itself.
The second highly Commended Award was in the NEMEX Renewables Innovation category for the Stoke Bardolph project working with Severn Trent Water. This Award recognises the organisation that has shown the most innovative approach towards the installation of small scale, embedded renewable energy systems.
The well-established Environment and Energy Awards celebrate excellence and innovation from businesses and technology providers. The Awards were presented at an evening celebration at the National Motorcycle Museum on 24 May and as part of SustainabilityLive!, the UK’s leading event at the NEC, for the environment, water, land, energy and sustainable business sectors, where Elaine Preston, Corporate Sustainability Manager at Interserve, also presented at the event conference on ‘Embedding sustainability into the culture of the company’.
Steve Dance, Executive Director and Interserve’s sustainability champion said: “We are delighted to have been Highly Commended in two award categories. It is recognition for just how engrained the sustainability culture now is within the entirety of our business.”
This year’s Awards were presented by Olympic bronze medallist Steve Parry. Previous award winners include McDonald’s, Tesco, ADAS UK and Bovis Lend Lease.
