Interserve to design and build new air despatch facility at Brize Norton

by Interserve Press Office | Jul 21, 2011

Interserve, the international support services and construction group, is to design and build a new air despatch facility for 47 Air Despatch, Royal Logistics Corps, at RAF Brize Norton.

Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has awarded the £21.6 million contract to Interserve joint venture, PriDE, to deliver the new facility.

Work starts in August 2011 to provide 9,400 sq m of offices, equipment storage and operational capacity. This will help ensure the speedy, efficient delivery of supplies to overseas destinations and help 47 Air Despatch Royal Logistics Corps better support military operations.

Denis Williams, DIO Project Manager, said: “DIO’s top priority is to support our Armed Forces in preparing for operations. Reaching the point of contract award on this project has involved close cooperation between all parties to achieve a scheme of technical viability within budget constraints and a challenging programme.”

Paul Harvey, Director, Core Works for PriDE said: “We are looking forward to working with DIO and the RAF in continuing to deliver strategically important facilities at Brize Norton. We recognise the importance of the programme Future Brize and will be doing all we can to support and facilitate these changes.”
