International support services and construction group Interserve is marking a decade of working on educational projects in Northern Ireland by celebrating the achievement with staff at a high school in Belfast.
St Genevieve’s High School was the first education PFI project in Northern Ireland for Interserve and its Newry-based consortium partner O’Hare & McGovern. After a period of construction, staff and pupils moved to the new site on Stewartstown Road in West Belfast ten years ago. Since then the consortium has built a further nine schools in Northern Ireland, creating hundreds of construction and infrastructure jobs. The latest school opened to pupils in 2011.
Interserve continues to maintain the site and buildings at St Genevieve’s and provides additional services such as catering and cleaning.
On the partnership, Head Teacher Mirella Smith said: “At St Genevieve’s we have a partnership with Interserve who, with O’Hare and McGovern, have delivered an excellent school and continue to support us in providing a conducive environment for learning. We’re delighted to celebrate ten prosperous years and look forward to working with both over the long-term.”
Interserve’s Regional Director Aidan McCuaig added: “It’s been an exciting decade for Interserve in Northern Ireland and a delight to work with Mirella and her team at St Genevieve’s over that time. As a company, we are looking to increase our footprint in the province, as we expand our core services.”
