Interserve Press Office | Nov 27, 2013
Interserve has won the 2013 Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) Partners in FM Secure Facilities award for its partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation's (DIO) PFI Team at MoD Corsham; and was awarded Finalist status for its partnership with Defra in the Partners in Corporate FM – Public Sector.
Now in its 20th year, the PFM Awards are recognised as the premier accolade for best practice at working in partnership to deliver facilities and support services across a broad spectrum of organisations in the private and public sectors. More than 450 people from the industry attended the presentation dinner, which was hosted by Olympic silver medallist, Roger Black.
DIO is the Ministry of Defence's (MoD) property and services provider. For 25 years, Interserve has worked with the MoD to provide a service delivery solution that supports modern communications for our Armed Forces. More than 36 different services are provided through the Corsham PFI Project, which went live in 2008, including building and grounds maintenance, medical and dental support, leisure and hospitality services, environmental and conservation services, logistics, tailoring, administration, reprographics and motor transport services. Interserve also manages the underground military town at Corsham, which provides an important link to our Cold War history.
The judges commented: "Both Interserve and the team at MoD Corsham are working closely together for the greater good and to constantly innovate and improve. There was a passion for this partnership that is a recipe for continued success into the future. The complexities of this relationship needed to be seen and understood to appreciate its scope and significance to the MoD. Meeting many of the Interserve and MoD personnel first-hand demonstrated how the partnership is so strongly knitted together."
Brian Talbot, Managing Director – Defence at Interserve congratulated the team and added: "Winning this award is a great exemplar of the quality of people that work with us day-in day-out, continually striving to achieve better for our business and our customers. We are exceptionally proud of the commitment and dedication of the Corsham team to support the MoD in providing modern communication services to our Armed Forces around the world."
Sara Spurrier, from DIO's Corsham PFI Team said: "DIO's priority is to support our Armed Forces as they prepare for operations. It's great that the hard work and good working relationships between Interserve, DIO and site users has received recognition by the PFM. All parties work extremely hard to ensure that the management of the estate and services at MOD Corsham maintain a high standard."
Interserve was also nominated as a Finalist in the Partners in FM Corporate – Public Sector award for its 15-year contract with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). The contract covers 186 sites throughout England and Wales, where a broad range of facilities management services such as buildings maintenance, waste management, energy management, professional and project services, and fleet management are provided to a range of critical environments.

About the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)
DIO plays a vital role in supporting our Armed Forces by building, maintaining and servicing what the men and women who serve our country need to live, work, train and deploy on operations. It is working hard to become even better by becoming a world-class infrastructure delivery organisation over the next few years.
DIO is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). It is responsible for managing and maintaining land and properties, as well as providing related support services, to meet the current and future needs of the MOD and personnel at home and abroad, and to support current operations.
Its work includes supporting operational units by providing and improving single living and service family accommodation; training areas and historic military sites. DIO actively manages these to ensure the needs of Defence are met, value for money is achieved, and its heritage is protected, and to achieve its environmental goals.
