Interserve has been involved in major costruction projects in the Middle East for more than 30 years. We operate through our associate companies and through our formwork and falsework business, RMD Kwikform.

RMD Kwikform, our formwork and falsework business, has agency agreements in a number of other countries in north Africa and the Middle East, and can also service these areas through exports from our bases in the region.

Oman
We established our Oman joint venture, Douglas OHI, in 1981. Among the many projects it has completed in the petrochemical, power and desalination industries are:
- Power and desalination plant for Doosan
- Civil engineering works for an aluminium smelting plant at Sohar for Alstom
- Methanol plant for GS Engineering
- Oilfield infrastructure works for Occidental

Qatar
We established our Qatar joint venture, Gulf Contracting Co, in 1996. It operates as building and civil engineering contractor to large, blue-chip, international clients and designs and manufactures the market-leading “Spacemaker” range of prefabricated buildings. Examples of projects include:
- 400-bed hotel for Qatar Airways
- A sequence of electricity substations for Siemens, ABB and Areva
- Accommodation units for the Shell Pearl gas-to-liquids project
We set up How United Services in 2000 to deliver industry-leading mechanical, electrical, power and maintenance services. With specialist skills in the oil/gas, aviation, infrastructure, commercial and retail sectors its expertise includes project management, building services, facilities management, interior fit-outs, high-voltage cabling, jointing and testing.

UAE
We have been in partnership in our United Arab Emirates joint venture, Khansaheb Civil Engineering, since 1981. Operating primarily in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we have delivered numerous major infrastructure and commercial projects including:
- Mall of the Emirates
- Dubai Festival City
- Wafi Raffles hotel
- Al Gurg Tower
RMD Kwikform, our formwork and falsework business, has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Among our projects is the iconic hotel at the Yas Island Formula 1 circuit - our engineers designed the falsework systems that made its construction possible.
