EDUCATION, workplace TRAINING, apprenticeships and Employability

As one of the largest providers of skills and employability services in the UK, we are working with citizens and employers to provide people with the skills and attributes they need to be successful in the workplace. We help people progress their careers and support businesses to get the right staff with the right skills mix to improve productivity and performance.

We work in partnership with government, employers, Local Enterprise Partnerships, employers and Job Centre Plus to deliver improved workforce skills for our partners, customers and learners.

Over the last year, we have successfully supported over 7,000 apprentices, provided training to over 3,000 employers, delivered independent advice and guidance to over 1,000 schools and since 2011, we have helped over 30,000 people into sustainable employment.

Supporting people with skills and opportunities

We help individuals and organisations at various stages on the career and work journey, from a 16-year-old choosing a vocational education pathway, through to senior managers looking to advance their career through professional development.

We also provide expert support for individuals from disadvantaged groups, the long-term unemployed, young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities and people with healthcare needs that might be seen as a barrier in the workplace.

As well as our own professional and dedicated workforce, we also have a trusted network of specialist partners to ensure we meet the individual needs of our learners and employers.

The joint third largest supplier of the Work Programme, the government’s flagship policy to reduce long term unemployment.

How we help

  • Young apprenticeships - we place 16-18-year-old learners with employers, providing the training, safeguarding and tailored 1-2-1 support throughout the apprentice journey.

  • Adult apprenticeships – we provide intermediate, advanced and higher level qualifications.

  • Traineeships – we equip young adults with real skills, improved education and valuable work experience on 10–13 week programmes.

  • Disadvantaged people - we work with people including those at risk of redundancy and the long-term unemployed, to overcome barriers to work and match them to job vacancies.

  • Large employers – our Levy Response Unit helps large employers build an effective business for their future apprenticeship levy bills.

The apprenticeship levy

With the introduction of the apprenticeship levy from May 2017 and the transition into employer-led, apprenticeship standards, we have developed a specialist service to help large employers get into shape ahead of the reforms.

We will work with organisations to ascertain their future workforce needs, analysis apprenticeship demand and develop tailored training programmes to meet both.
