Our Armed Forces network

Interserve supports the Armed Forces
We are committed to supporting the Armed Forces community including veterans, reservists and their families.

Interserve has a long and proud history of working with the UK’s Armed Forces. We have been delivering facilities management, infrastructure services and equipment services to the Defence sector for over 25 years. We are also proud to be a forces-friendly employer supporting veterans, reservists and their families to gain sustainable employment.

More than 14,000 men and women left the British Armed Forces in the 12 months covering April 2018 to March 2019[1]. Some left by their own choice, while others were discharged for medical reasons or injury.  Whatever the reason, the culture shock of returning to civilian life can be difficult.

Many ex-service people have highly developed skills who simply don’t know how to transfer these skills into civilian jobs. We recognise the assets ex-service people are to businesses and the untapped resource they offer to reduce the UK skills gap.

We pledge that no member of the Armed Forces Community should face discrimination in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen. Our people support ex-service personnel through our mentor scheme to set up their own businesses. And we support veterans to apply for our vacancies by advertising through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and attending career fairs.

Our employees who are reservists are also fully supported in their commitment to the Armed Forces. Our line managers are trained to ensure they understand how best to support their team members who are reservists. And all of our reservists receive an additional 10 days paid leave to attend scheduled annual training days.

Our support extends beyond veterans and reservists to their spouses and partners. We understand the challenges service spouses and partners can face when wanting to find employment while supporting their spouse and partner with Armed Forces commitments. Our mentor scheme is extended to partners and spouses to support them to set up their own business. We also advertise our vacancies with Forces Families Jobs and in local military communities.

We proudly support Armed Forces Week, Reserves Day, The Poppy Appeal and Help for Heroes through volunteer fundraising and external advocacy. Visit our Insight hub and Latest News to read our stories. And follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with our fundraising activities.

"We're proud to support the Armed Forces community. Many of our employees are ex-service personnel or reservists, and they play a key role in delivering the high quality facilities management and construction services to our customers around the world."
