University of the West of England - Student accommodation

University of the West of England - Student accommodation

The multi-million pound design and build project which is phase 1 of a possible 3 phases, is based on a predominately four-storey ‘town house’ student village concept with a separate central security, reception and laundry hub.

This fast-track project will incorporate numerous ‘off site’ manufactured systems and technologies. Planning approval was gained in December 2013 and works started on site immediately following this. Completion is due in September 2014.

The student accommodation has been developed to provide an alternative to the traditional six person cluster flats, with a mix of en-suite and shared bathrooms and some studio flats. This first phase will be located adjacent to Wallscourt Farmhouse. Building these additional bed spaces is a move towards meeting student expectations by providing a wider choice of campus accommodation, at lower rent levels.

This project is part of the University’s master plan to build a University fit for the 21st century.
