Interserve has launched a Redeployment Team to support the company’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Interserve is at the forefront of the national response to COVID-19. Cleaners, caterers, porters, security personnel and maintenance colleagues work at 11 NHS hospitals, a range of healthcare settings and at the newly opened NHS North West Nightingale Hospital. Colleagues also work for other essential services, such as Transport for London and Network Rail.
The Redeployment Team (RT) identifies furloughed colleagues on contracts that are temporarily suspended because of the lockdown conditions introduced by the Government to suppress the spread of the pandemic and offers them the chance to switch to the company’s facilities management contracts that are delivering to essential services.
The RT maps Interserve’s contracts and contacts people who are eligible to transfer. Once colleagues who wish to participate temporarily join new services, the RT also ensures each individual receives the required training. Healthcare contracts to benefit from the initiative include the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and NHS Poole Hospital.
The RT was established by the Interserve’s COVID-19 Response Committee. Martin Burholt, Managing Director for Interserve Group’s Communities and International business unit, is one of the committee members. The RT includes input from Human Resources and Learning & Development.
Martin Burholt, Managing Director for Interserve Group’s Communities and International business unit, said: “I am proud of the work that is being undertaken by our frontline colleagues in what is often challenging circumstances and we are all absolutely committed to delivering the best possible service to the NHS and all of our customers during this challenging time.
“Our healthcare work is expanding and so the RT is playing an important role in our response to COVID-19.
“Anything that we can do to support colleagues who are being furloughed is important because we are a people business and doing everything we can to support them is critical - especially at the current time.”
Interserve provides services to 11 NHS hospitals, six healthcare facilities, LAS and the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service.
